Congratulations to LiuGong for this, their first article in the Wall Street Journal. After months of tradeshow interviews, releases and follow-through from Clear Blue and the LiuGong marketing team, this coverage of a Chinese construction equipment company gives them a leg up in North America. This article appeared on the front page of today’s online version and on the front page of today’s Marketplace section in the printed version.

Once upon a time nearly all of us were interns. We made coffee, answered phones, went on emergency trips to Staples for ink cartridges AND somehow, in the midst of all that, had some of the most valuable and educational experiences of our academic and professional careers.
Well, as it turns out, we need someone to make coffee, answer the phones and keep score for us during our ping pong matches too. Sounds interesting enough, right? In partnership with the Belk College of Business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Clear Blue, Inc. is now accepting resumes for our inaugural 2011 Marketing + Branding internship opportunity.

This past year Clear Blue, Inc. was faced with a challenge that marketing agencies all around the globe face every year. The agency was asked to promote a global company without a global budget.
The solution? Turn to the media. In 2009 Clear Blue developed four international press kits for one of the world’s largest construction equipment manufacturers. These press kits were released across the globe in six languages: English, French, German, Russian, Portuguese and Spanish.
“We’re so happy to be working with a company who can supply us with the press material we need,” said Fabia Sugandy, Editor, Southeast Asia Construction.
In addition to press kits, Clear Blue conducted over 95 international press interviews with various company executives.
The bottom line is the key measure of success. For this initiative, the client’s return on investment soared over 1,000% from trade show optimization and media relations at two huge international trade shows.

Does the sun ever shine in Liuzhou? Not that we know of… Thankfully, it hasn’t thrown the crew off too much, we knew to expect weather like this in December. Today, we made great progress, especially once all the machines arrived. We captured application shots of the 816 Tier III Wheel Loader, the 906 Excavator and the smaller 904 Excavator, all at a remote quarry site in the Liuzhou countryside. Tomorrow, we’ll spend the whole day at the forklift factory shooting the CLG2015AT and the CLG2030LPG. Should be able to stay relatively dry there, it will be a nice change.

It’s just a little cold and rainy in Liuzhou, but we’ll manage. Good thing everyone brought their boots, umbrellas and lighting equipment. Really, the trip over went extremely smooth all things considered. After a little run in with the TSA, a few hiccups with non-essential supplies and one small flight delay the team made it, luggage and all!
They have already been to the forklift factory and the quarry for some application shots and are putting in close to 12hrs a day. They’ll keep up that pace for the next two weeks…we’re going to have some tired photographers and videographers when they come home the second week in February.
Robin heads over on February 1st to interview Mr. Zeng, we should have some good footage from that, and lend her creative genius to the whole project.
Stories and specifics will go up as we get them, if we’re lucky, we might even get some pictures.
Stay warm.

Ladies and gentleman, we need a little help. We are sending a team to China on Saturday for a huge 2010 photo/video shoot for one of our construction equipment manufacturer clients and we need some North Carolina gift ideas for the executives. What do you think? Any great suggestions? I wonder if they like BBQ…
